I'm writing as your Constituent, as one of many people affected by the housing crisis.

The twin housing and homelessness emergencies have been growing for decades. Despite growing public concern and Ireland’s international obligations on the right to housing, successive governments have failed to tackle them. In fact, many of the policies implemented have increased homelessness and housing insecurity. The number of children in homelessness has been steadily growing over the past decade.

Recently, a number of experts and charities put together a roadmap to end these crises. They outlined the many steps the Irish government could take to end the housing and homelessness emergencies. Yet the government simply has not taken them. This political inertia illustrates the need for a right to housing to be enshrined in our Constitution.

Government must create a safety net through which no-one can fall. Everyone is entitled to a decent roof over their head. It's their right.

Please, act now to make housing rights real, for everyone.
