Together, we can make that happen.

We all want to live in a country where everyone is safe, no matter who they are or where they are.
But we rarely know what’s going on behind closed doors - in our care homes, garda stations, or Direct Provision centres.
This has to change.
Government is now legislating to ratify OPCAT, a treaty that requires proper inspections of places where people are in the care of the State, but right now they're leaving Direct Provision out.
It's important inspectors can make surprise visits to prisons and other residential institutions and that they can speak to everyone there.
And it's crucial that the government should have to listen to recommendations and explain to all of us if it decides not to implement them.
Just like our schools, our roads and our food are inspected, we need to inspect all the places where people are supposed to be looked after. This includes Direct Provision Centres.
Because we all want to live in a country where everyone is safe.
